Big Shoulders Magazine Art and Poetry contest

The deadline is October 1st for entries.
Winners will have their work online at the magazine
and have a short write up and their website listed.

There will be an exhibit some of the artwork chosen
in late October at a location near Damen and North
Avenue. There are a lot of active bars, restaurants,
etc in the area and it is very much an art district.

and read the twelve poems chosen from Rhino
Poetry Magazine and choose one to three.

You can submit existing work. YOUR WORK
DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A PERFECT MATCH,
just something that you feel connects your
work with one of the poems.

You can paint a work to match a poem
but if you have a work that matches one
of the poems in some way please send it in.
REMEMBER, it doesn't have to be an exact
match in the content, just connect to the poem
in some way. So if it is a poem about a garden
you can send in a floral, a poem about the action
at a jazz place, sends something that touches
on musical performance, something about
a certain street send a picture of a street
that has something in common.

Old Town School of Folk Music-CALL FOR ARTISTS

Old Town School of Folk Music is putting out a CALL FOR ARTISTS that could be a great opportunity for the right person. They are looking for 2 different proposals for projects related to their new building in Lincoln Square, which is being built in the coming year.

Submission Deadline: October 4, 2010 at 5:00pm.
